Hmmm, I tried posting this several times and got strange errors...  ???

System: Beta 1 Dictionary Edition 2007 - Windows XP Pro

Bug description: I was looking up the name of a colleague at work and I didn't know the first kanji, so I hit F8 to access the Kanji Info.  The original search was 籔根 (やぶね).  It shows up correctly in the dictionary, but in the Kanji info box, the kanji are wrong... both in the list on the left and the large view on the bottom right.

I tried to attach an image but the server won't allow me... so please do a search for 籔根 and then check the kanji info.

I am using the latest KANJIDIC.  When doing the same search in Dictionary Edition 2006 the problem does not happen.

Hope you can find the fix to this!  :D

Same problem occurs with 便箋.

Those Kanji are probably not listed in the kanjidic yet. Many names are composed using non standard Kanji.
I fond those Kanji you've posted in other Kanji-Dictionaries like 学研漢和大辞典 and in my printed Wernecke.

From the Kanjidic-Documentation (2003):

"A Database of Information on the 6,355 Kanji in the JIS X 0208 Standard"

So this Kanjidictionary is not the least as extensiv as big Japanese Kanjidictionaries, that contain mostly much more than 10000 Kanji and Hanzi.

Hi Chris, thanks for the info.  Never realized there were so many...

The strange thing is, these kanji show up just fine in the 2006 version of Stackz, using the same KANJIDIC file.  The only problem is the 2007 version.  So I have a feeling there might be some sort of programming issue.  Plus, the fact that searching for one kanji results in three entirely different ones showing up on screen is kinda strange.

Please see this screenshot for a better explanation:  http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f125/bag198/Kanjibug.jpg

The kanji circled in red (in the Dictionary and 2006 edition) are the correct kanji.  However, in the 2007 kanji info window, you get two new, incorrect kanji, circled in green.

Chris

I think this is some sort of conversion issue between old and new glyphs of the same kanji.

Kanjidic is in EUC encoding... I will check the conversion algorithms in Stackz 07, which is fully UNICODE and no longer has the internal Shift-JIS parts that were still in use with Stackz 2006.

Chris

This is corrected, the next release will be fine.

Awesome.  Thanks for the hard work.
