Title: Crash at shutdown
Post by: mark on June 13, 2007, 08:41:50 PM
I've tested Stackz Beta 3 on two computers, one that exhibit the problem and the other that don't.
And it seems, that the one with the error doesn't memorize the last opened file. So maybe this is happening when it tries to save the name of the current file or before (when saving the file).

Interesting point!

The open file is written to the registry when the app closes normally (not when it crashes).

But well, thinking about it more, I guess it's normal that it does not load the last open file - because the problem consists of a crash at startup, even before any file can be loaded! I'm not sure if we talk about the same thing here...

The crash i'm talking about happen when closing Stackz.
I didn't have the crash on startup since Beta 3.

OK, that's a different one then, which does not belong to the other topic. I moved your message to a new topic.

So it seems that the crash happens before the recent files list ist written to the registry. That's nothing special, the recent files list is written at the very end.

What else can you say about this crash?

Are you using Vista? If so, it might be a permission problem related to shutdown registry writing indeed... If on Vista, have you tried to run Stackz as administrator?

I've tested Stackz Beta 4 and the problem seem to be resolved ! Great !

In fact, on Beta 3, i had this problem with my old Windows XP, but not on my new Vista computer.

Just 2 suggestions to make Stackz better:
> It would be nice if Stackz could remember all the file open at next startup and not only the last one.
> The ability to sort on multiple columns would be welcome (in the edit list for example), so i can sort the category's column then on language's column.

By the way i like the new skill dialog, it's just more intuitive.
