Stackz - New Feature Requests / Re: Edit from other windows
« on: April 02, 2009, 05:44:35 AM »
I have to disagree here... the feature I am looking for is not present. It is true that one can edit an entry in any window, but it is just one entry at a time. While what I am looking for is accessing the Edit window without having to close the Test or Learn window. Maybe not to just edit one entry, but to compare various entries that may appear similar while being learned/tested, or to divide different meanings of a word in separate entries rather than only one, etc...
In short, being able to work in the Edit window without closing the Learn or Test window, and once the work done to be able to resume the learning/testing.
The idea of my suggestion was not the editing, but the access to the Edit window from other windows, without having to close them.

Stackz - New Feature Requests / Edit from other windows
« on: March 28, 2009, 02:28:21 AM »
Often I find that, while I am using the learn or test feature, I may have some overlapping words and  phrases that I would like to edit rightaway, maybe delete some of them. However, it is impossible to do this without closing the learn/test window, and by the time I finish the testing I already forgot which words I wanted to edit or delete.
It would be very useful to be able to access the Edit window from inside the learn or test windows (without having to close them), maybe have an Edit button on the menu of the Test/Learn windows.
Thanks,
Cristian

Stackz - New Feature Requests / "Pause" feature
« on: January 19, 2009, 05:55:55 AM »
I have about 2000 words in one of my Stackz files now, I am planning to go on a vacation for a few weeks, and I am horrified at the thought that upon coming back I will find everything orange! It will take me weeks to go through hundreds and hundreds of words and bring everything up to date.
It would be very useful to have a "Pause" button of some kind, so that I can freeze all the stacks as they are when I am leaving, and defreeze them once I am back.
Or, alternatively, is there any other way to do this that I have not discovered yet?...

Thanks,
Cristian

(I still have about 5 months until I have to leave, so I really hope there will be a way developed until then...)

Stackz - Bug Reports / 64 days reserve
« on: November 02, 2008, 11:44:02 PM »
Hi,
According to the help file, when a word is in the top-most stack and is known, the reserve period will double. This happened to some of the words I am rehearsing, the reserve period went up to 80 days.
However, only 4 days have passed since then and now the reserve period for those words reads 64 days. It seems that each day counts as 4 reserve days in Stackz. I suppose this is a bug?...

Thanks,
Cristian

General Discussion / How to set up Chinese-English dictionary?
« on: December 16, 2007, 05:22:10 PM »
Hi,
I tried to setup an English-Chinese-English dictionary (the CEDICT dictionary downloaded from the link provided on the Links page), but I am not able to see any words, so I am not sure I have done it right. I was not able to find any instructions as to how to correctly setup a dictionary, if there are such instructions could you please point me to them.
Thanks,
Cristian

Stackz - Bug Reports / Bug in test view
« on: December 02, 2007, 05:28:16 PM »
Hi,
I have tried last night the latest Stackz release and it seems to have a bug in the test view.
I was using it for a Chinese word-list that was working well in the 2006 version. However, in the 07 version some of the Chinese characters were doubled in the test window. When I was trying to edit them, only a single copy of the characters was visible, while if I was closing the Edit view I had again two sets of identical characters. In order to delete the second set I had to re-open the Edit view, put the cursor at the end of the characters group and press Back Space once. Nothing was actually happening on the screen (since I only had one set of characters visible), but after closing the Edit view I only had one set of characters left (as it should have been). This was not on all the words, just on some of them, I am not quite sure why.
I am using Vista, BTW.
Thanks,
Cristian
